The article is based on an in vitro set-up including 2 masks from each manufactures. All together 6 different masks were investigated, two made of silicone (LMA Classic, Marshall) and 4 made of PVC (LMA Unique, Portex, Ambu, Intersurgical). The aim of the study was to investigate the cuff pressure behaviour of disposable laryngeal mask airways (size 3) from different manufacturers during nitrous oxide exposure.

Based on results from a combined international multicenter study.

Clinical Anesthesiology, July 2005, page 8, Michael Dreyfuss

Since the Laryngeal Mask Airway (LMA) was introduced in the early 1980s, there have been continued efforts to improve it. Recently, Ambu USA (Glen Burnie Md.) introduced a single-use airway that the manufacturer claims has advantages over the traditional LMA.
